According to Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz, steel furniture under the Bigla name was produced in Biglen, in the canton of Bern, from 1904. An industry article from 2019 states that the company initially manufactured beds for children and adults, and later its well-known Bigla office furniture line. At that time, Bigla Office AG employed around 75 people.
In September 2019, the acquisition of Bigla Office AG by Novex AG of Hochdorf was announced. From 2020, production was to take place at the Novex plant in Huttwil, while the sales headquarters remained in Biglen; the Bigla and Novex brands operate separately. The transaction did not include the separate company Bigla Care AG, which specialises in care equipment.
