Helo Leuchten of Neuburg an der Donau in Bavaria was officially founded in 1946. According to local accounts, its name derives from the names of the sons – Henry and Lothar. The Gerhard family, which ran the company, came from Wrocław (Breslau).
Helo produced desk and workshop lamps, scissor lamps and wall lights; the company’s lamps were used, among others, by the Bundeswehr. After the death of Henry Gerhard senior in 1964, the company shifted to trading in electrical goods, and since 1980 has operated as Expert-Helo.
