The glassworks in Chřibská is traditionally dated to 1414; however, this date is not confirmed by museum sources. From 1882 until the Second World War, it belonged to the Mayer family. After nationalisation, it became part of the Borské sklo n.p. enterprise and was privatised in 1993. The plant closed in 2007.
Among those who worked at the glassworks was Frantisek Zemek, who was employed there in 1949. The 20th Century Glass portal names Josef Hospodka as the glassworks' chief designer from 1958–1970. In 2018, Lasvit announced the revitalisation of the glassworks under the name “Chřibská 1414”.
