The Thun'sche Porcellanfabrik was established in Klášterec nad Ohří; sources give 1793 or 1794 as the year, and name Franz Joseph von Thun und Hohenstein and Johann Nikolaus Weber as its founders. From 1800, it belonged to Count Josef Mathias von Thun, and from 1830–1945 to the Counts Thun-Hohenstein. After the Second World War, it became part of the Karlovarský porcelán company.

The factory produced tableware, coffee and tea services marked with the “TK” mark. In the 1970s, the factory in Klášterec was moved to new premises; plants in Sadov-Lesov and Nová Role also operated. In 2009, a new company, Thun 1794, was established in Nová Role, and in September 2023 porcelain production in Klášterec ended. The products are presented by the Porcelain Museum in Klášterec nad Ohří.
