Boma Inuit Figurines, Canada, 1970s

A collectible set of two black figurines depicting Indigenous peoples of the North, made in Canada in the 1970s by Boma. The sculptures were produced from a special blend of resin and natural fibres, allowing for a faithful recreation of traditional Inuit stone (steatite) carvings.

The first, taller figure depicts a standing hunter in a traditional hooded parka, set on an irregular base imitating rocky terrain. The second, shorter figurine depicts a seated, full-bodied figure with its head raised. Both sculptures feature a compact, rounded form and a smooth, satin surface with subtle lighter areas of wear highlighting the details of the clothing. The original round Boma manufacturer labels remain on the underside of each base.
