This handwoven oriental rug was made in Pakistan in the 1960s for IKEA. Traditionally flat-woven and dyed in shades of navy blue and beige, it was made using natural wool and cotton. Through appropriate treatment and polishing, the wool acquires a beautiful sheen. Its high knot density makes the rug durable. Bukhara rugs are currently considered to be among the finest rugs produced in Pakistan. The rug is decorated with repeating geometric patterns. Handwoven rugs are made using techniques that give their sections structural integrity. They are made from hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of threads tied to a cotton or wool foundation. Handwoven rugs are created by repeatedly passing the warp through the weft. These techniques ensure that every part of the rug is an integral part of its structure and is less prone to unraveling. Rug production in Pakistan is similar to production in India; following the partition of these countries, most Muslim weavers moved to the Pakistani side.

The rug is in its original vintage condition. It shows signs of age-related wear. One section along the side is heavily worn. Before shipping, the rug will undergo professional cleaning and will be ready for use.
