Vintage stools, VEB Elektroinstallation Deutschneudorf, Germany, 1960s/70s
An original pair of Webpelzhocker stools manufactured in the GDR by VEB Elektroinstallation Deutschneudorf. The model is characterised by a distinctive aluminium frame and a seat covered in soft, decorative “Webpelz” fabric (faux fur).
The minimalist construction is based on three slender aluminium legs connected by a triangular base cast from aluminium. This form was typical of modernist functional design in the GDR during the 1960s and 1970s.
The stools have soft upholstered seats in two colours – green and coral red – giving them a highly decorative, slightly Pop Art character. They can be used as stools, bar stools, or decorative elements in vintage/mid-century interiors.
