Lina Bo Bardi, whose real name was Achillina Bo, was born in 1914 in Rome and died in 1992 in São Paulo. After leaving Italy, she pursued her professional work in Brazil, where she worked as an architect and designer. Her best-known project is the building housing the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), that is, the Museum of Art in São Paulo, completed in 1968. She also designed furniture; the Bowl Chair armchair is attributed to her, dating from 1951 – the same year in which her house, Casa de Vidro, was built.
