The company was founded in Stockholm in 1872 by Arvid Böhlmark. Initially, it sold imported kerosene and gas lamps made of sheet metal, zinc and brass, together with accessories; in 1885, it began its own production of kerosene stoves. In 1892, it had six sales outlets in Stockholm.
In 1888, it moved its headquarters to a purchased site on Högbergsgatan in Södermalm, where its premises and warehouses were established. Glass for the lamps was manufactured at Pukeberg glassworks in Nybro, while the company shop was located at Norrmalmstorg. It operated until 1977.
