The glassworks was founded in Riihimäki in 1910 by M.A. Kolehmainen and his son A.P. Kolehmainen. From 1919, it produced bottles and window glass, and in 1927 it acquired the Kaukalahti glassworks. From 1937, it operated under the name Riihimäen Lasi Oy.
The glassworks' designers included Aimo Okkolin (from 1937), Helena Tynell and Nanny Still (from 1949), Tamara Aladin (from 1959), and Erkkitapio Siiroinen, who collaborated with it from 1968. Nanny Still's designs include Pompadour, Tiimalasi, Polaris, Grapponia (in neodymium glass) and Candida; pattern numbers are helpful in identifying the products. In 1985, Ahlström took over the glassworks; in 1988, it was merged with Karhula, and it closed in 1990.
