Fulvio Bianconi was born in 1915 in Padua and died in 1996. After the war, he worked with the glassworks of Paolo Venini on Murano, where he co-created the Fazzoletto series with him. At that time, the Venini glassworks was also associated with, among others, Gio Ponti and Tapio Wirkkala.

Bianconi’s vases from the Fazzoletto and Pezzato series, made at the Venini glassworks, are held in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. The museum describes them using the English names Handkerchief and Patchwork.
