Tora Pors was born on 22 July 1913 in Vejle and died on 26 November 2000 in Lidingö. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and subsequently under Otte Sköld at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm; she worked in Sweden from around 1945.
From 1947 to 1954, she was a designer at Kalmar Glasbruk. She often used the “glavering” technique, named after the glassworks’ owner, Arnold Glave: using a burner, she fused patterns made from coloured glass rods into hot vessels, then covered them with a layer of clear glass. Her style was known as “myricaglas”. She also painted and drew motifs from Lidingö.
