Polish mid-century lamps
Original lamps made in Poland in the 1950s–1980s: table lamps, pendants and wall lights. Each is a single period piece, not a reissue.
Polish lamps from the Polam factories
From 1972 to 1989 most of the Polish lighting industry operated within the Polam association. It was named after the light bulb factory in Pabianice, and every member plant carried the Polam name and a shared logo in front of its own name.
Light fittings and lamps were made in lighting equipment plants across the country: Polam-Gdańsk, Polam-Wilkasy, Polam-Piła, Polam-Poznań, Polam-Radom, Polam-Wieliczka, Polam-Gostynin and Polam-Farel in Kętrzyn. Lighting glass came from, among others, the glassworks in Pieńsk. After the association was dissolved in 1989, the plants began producing under their own brands; some were taken over by foreign manufacturers, e.g. the Piła plant went to Philips.
The association grew out of a light-source combine set up in 1970 within UNITRA, and from 1982 it operated as an association of lighting equipment manufacturers.
Polish table lamps, pendants and wall lights
The collection brings together all kinds of lighting from Polish factories: table and desk lamps, ceiling and pendant lamps, wall lights and floor lamps. It updates automatically — every lamp with Poland as the country of origin and a production date from the 1940s to the 1980s appears here.
For each piece we list the manufacturer (where known), production years, dimensions and materials. Condition is described on the product page, and you can ask about a specific lamp using the enquiry form there.
Sold lamps stay on the page in a collapsed section, which gives a good idea of the models that turn up in this collection.
How to tell where a Polish lamp was made
The factory marking tells you the most. A name such as Polam-Gdańsk or Polam-Wilkasy points to a specific plant and, most likely, to the years 1972–1989, when the plants used the association’s shared name. Lamps without markings are attributed to a country and decade based on their construction, materials and fittings; in that case the description says the manufacturer is unknown.

Frequently asked questions
Are the lamps in this collection originals?
Yes. They were made in Poland between the 1950s and the 1980s; they are not modern reissues.
Who made lamps in communist-era Poland?
From 1972 to 1989 most lighting factories belonged to the Polam association, including Polam-Gdańsk, Polam-Wilkasy, Polam-Piła and Polam-Farel in Kętrzyn.
How do you know which factory a lamp comes from?
From the factory marking on the lamp, e.g. Polam-Wilkasy. If there is no marking, the description says “manufacturer unknown”.
