The factory was founded in 1873 by Zygmunt Kuchfeld and Dawid Czamański as Włocławska Fabryka Wyrobów Fajansowych on Żelazna Street (now Kościuszki). After 1882, it was taken over by Józef Teichfeld and Ludwik Asterblum, and in 1918 it was sold to Majer Nieszawski; it retained the name Teichfeld i Asterblum with the addition “Progres”.

In 1945, three factories in Włocławek were merged into Polskie Zjednoczone Fabryki Fajansu. From 1953, Jan Sowiński and Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska worked at the model-making centre, and Wit Płażewski joined them in 1957. Together they created a new style – asymmetrical forms and abstract decorations that dominated production in Włocławek from 1957–1964.

In 1973, the factory was incorporated into the Vitrocer combine as Zakład Fajansu nr 1. The plant closed in 1991, after 118 years of operation.
