Description

Vintage sideboard with hutch, Swarzędzkie Fabryki Mebli, PRL, 1970s

Vintage sideboard with hutch in walnut veneer, model 1509 from the Kościan furniture suite, manufactured by Swarzędzkie Fabryki Mebli in the 1970s.
The legs and frame supporting the cabinet cases are made of solid wood.
The cabinet body and hutch are finished in walnut veneer.
The sideboard has 3 drawers, 2 doors and 1 removable shelf.
The hutch has sliding glass doors and 1 glass shelf.
The strong influence of Scandinavian design is clearly visible in this piece.
This model is very rarely seen on the market, suggesting that the sideboard was produced mainly for export. The factory in Swarzędz manufactured furniture for Western markets and collaborated with IKEA.
The manufacturer’s mark, with a visible date, is preserved in very good condition.
The piece has undergone a full restoration.
The sideboard also presents very well without the hutch, which can be easily removed.
