Arne Wahl Iversen was born in 1927 in Nyborg, where his father ran a furniture shop. He trained as a carpenter, completed a furniture construction course in Odense, and studied at the furniture school of the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, headed by Kaare Klint, from 1949 to 1951.
At the age of 25, he opened his own workshop in Nyborg. From 1957, he designed for IKEA for several years as the company was expanding. His furniture was produced by many Danish factories; the best-known models were made for Komfort and Vinde Møbelfabrik. Bedroom no. 92 by Vinde was shown at the Geneva trade fair in 1968.
From the late 1960s, his furniture was sold in major European countries and the USA. He remained active until the mid-1980s.
