Knut Sæter was a Norwegian interior architect and graduate of Bergens Kunsthåndverksskole. In 1946, he founded the Vatne Lenestolfabrikk factory in Vatne, in the Sunnmøre region, later known as Vatne Møbler. He designed the first pieces of furniture himself and made their prototypes, while from 1947 his brother Jostein was a co-owner. Among other pieces, he designed the Raff chair for the company.
From 1957, Fredrik A. Kayser also designed for Vatne. In 1989, the company was taken over by Stokke Gruppen AS. In 2002, the designer’s son, Per Arne Sæter, revived the family business with a collection of classics, including his father’s furniture.
