The coffee table was designed by Edvard Johansson for the Swedish furniture manufacturer Edvard Johansson Möbelfabrik in the 1960s. The table is made of dark beech wood with an additional stain finish. The tabletop is decorated with an inlaid mosaic depicting fish. The ceramic tesserae are multicoloured and textured, and in combination with the solid wood create a highly distinctive composition that adds colour and character to the interior in which the table is placed.

Edvard Johansson was a respected Swedish designer and craftsman of the post-war modernist period, best known for running the family furniture manufacturer EJM (Edvard Johansson Möbelfabrik). His signature pieces became exceptional coffee tables with tabletops decorated with multicoloured ceramic mosaics featuring geometric and organic motifs. He most often made the furniture frames from high-quality teak or beech, perfectly reflecting the iconic aesthetic of Scandinavian minimalism in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, his unique works are rare and highly sought-after collectible pieces at European vintage design auctions.

The table is in original vintage condition. It has minor scratches and scuffs consistent with its age.
