Description

Rosewood coffee table designed by Severin Hansen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, Denmark, 1960s

An elegant coffee table designed by Severin Hansen for the Danish manufacturer Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in the 1960s. Made from beautiful rosewood in a dark, rich tone, with pronounced grain. The deep dark brown colour of the wood contrasts with rich, irregular grain patterns, creating a hypnotic interplay of light and shadow. Each section of the tabletop is a unique picture of nature, making this piece a true work of functional art. The table is distinguished by its clean, geometric lines, characteristic of 1960s Danish modernism. Particular attention is drawn to the precise joints connecting the legs to the tabletop. This is a hallmark of Hansen’s designs, testifying to the craftsmanship and refined taste behind them. Its minimalist yet characterful silhouette, with a clear nod to functionalism, draws the eye and pairs perfectly with both modern and more classic interiors.

Severin Hansen was a Danish designer known and admired worldwide for his outstanding designs and iconic constructions. One look at a corner of the tabletop is enough to identify it as a Severin Hansen design. He first attracted wider attention in the 1950s with the geometric forms of his furniture. The elegant simplicity of his designs highlights Hansen’s craftsmanship and industrial way of thinking.

Haslev Møbelsnedkeri A/S is a traditional Danish manufacturer that has been making furniture since the early 1950s. Every Haslev product is made only from the finest pieces of wood, which specialised craftsmen transform into something even better. In the 1970s, Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, together with Royal Copenhagen, produced a series of coffee tables with ceramic decoration. To this day, Haslev continues to produce high-quality, hand-finished furniture in the old furniture-making tradition.

The table has been preserved in its original vintage condition. It shows minor signs of use consistent with its age.
