Modernist bas-relief designed by Svend Åage Jensen for the Danish manufactory Søholm in the 1960s. Catalogued under number 3509. Made of glazed stoneware in shades of brown and green. The zoomorphic motif depicts a heron.

Svend Åage Jensen (1918–80) was a glaze expert. At the age of 14, he began as a ceramics apprentice, and over the years developed his skills on the potter’s wheel and in glasswork. He created many designs for Søholm, where he worked from 1944 until his death. He was known for various objects made using the sgraffito technique and glossy glazes. His largest project was the Manilla ceramics series from 1964.

Søholm is the oldest ceramics factory on the Danish island of Bornholm. It was founded in 1835 in Rønne by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Christian Sonne. During its existence, the factory produced many iconic and highly collectible pieces. It closed in 1996 after 161 years of operation. Most Søholm ceramics made after 1960 are stoneware, known in Danish as stentøj. This word was inscribed or stamped on the item.

The item is in original vintage condition. It has a hook for wall mounting.
