Metal door handle, Alpana, Germany, 1970s

Description

Metal door handle, Alpana, Germany, 1970s

An exceptional, highly sculptural push and pull door handle, an example of applied art in the spirit of 1970s Brutalism. The item was made as a heavy, solid bronze casting.

The design is distinguished by an organic, asymmetrical form based on the motif of an irregular, open circle. The surface of the metal deliberately retains its raw character – it is irregular, rough and covered with natural, age-related patina, with visible, subtle traces of verdigris. The handle is integrated with a solid mounting element.

The item has been preserved in its original condition.
