Description

Rosewood coffee table, designed by Severin Hansen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, Denmark, 1960s

An elegant coffee table designed by Severin Hansen for the Danish manufactory Haslev Møbelsnedskeri in the 1960s. The geometric table is made from high-quality rosewood in a dark, rich brown shade. Hansen’s characteristic angled joint connecting the legs to the tabletop gives it a refined quality. The simple, minimalist design is aesthetically pleasing and will suit many interiors, bringing a subtle yet distinctive element to the arrangement. The original signature is located on the underside of the tabletop.

Severin Hansen was a Danish designer known and admired worldwide for his outstanding designs, developed from his iconic constructions. One corner of the tabletop is enough to know that it was designed by Severin Hansen. He first attracted wider attention with the geometric forms of his furniture in the 1950s. The elegant simplicity of his designs highlights Hansen’s craftsmanship and industrial approach to design.

Haslev Møbelsnedskeri A/S is a traditional Danish manufacturer that has been making furniture since the early 1950s. Every Haslev product is made exclusively from the finest sections of wood, which specialised craftspeople transform into something even better. In the 1970s, Haslev Møbelsnedskeri and Royal Copenhagen produced a series of coffee tables decorated with ceramics. To this day, Haslev continues to produce high-quality, hand-finished furniture in the tradition of historic furniture craftsmanship.

The table has been preserved in its original vintage condition. It has minor signs of use associated with its age and subtle discolouration on the tabletop.
