The Bumling pendant lamp was developed in the late 1960s by Anders Pehrson for Ateljé Lyktan and remains one of the company’s most recognisable designs to this day. The model was created at a time when lighting with a clear practical function was becoming increasingly important in Scandinavian design, while still being refined in terms of proportion and detail.

The form of the lamp is based on a wide metal shade with a softly angled profile. Its shape was designed to direct light effectively downwards while limiting its spread to the sides. The internal construction and the way the light source is shielded provide even, glare-free illumination, making the lamp well suited for use above a table or in a workspace.

The example shown features a dark, glossy brown finish characteristic of variants produced in the 1960s and 1970s. The simple suspension system and clearly articulated structural elements emphasise the practical character of the design. The lamp bears the manufacturer’s mark and is preserved in original, very good condition.
