Description

Vintage leather lounge chair, Lystager Industri, Denmark, 1970s

A lounge chair manufactured by the Danish company Lystager Industri in the 1970s. The chair is upholstered in patchwork-style natural leather in various shades of brown. The back and sides are made of suede in a sandy brown shade. The comfortable seat, high backrest and curved armrests feature tufting, giving the chair an elegant character. The comfort of the seat is ensured by a professional spring system from Lystager Industri, which has specialised in spring production since 1922. The swivel frame is mounted on a wooden five-star base. The chair is characterised by an interesting design that harmonises form with comfort.

Lystager Industri is a Danish manufacturer founded in 1922 in Viby by Hjalmar Lystager. Initially, it specialised in the production of metal springs. Clemen Laursen soon joined the company, supporting its technological and organisational development. In the 1960s, the factory was moved to Hornslet, where the production of upholstered furniture began, using polyurethane foam that gradually replaced traditional springs. In 1978, the company changed its name to Kebe Møbler A/S, continuing its development towards modern lounge chairs and swivel furniture. At the beginning of the 21st century, Henrik Lystager took over the company, but the brand soon passed into the hands of external owners. Today, the tradition of the manufacturer is continued by Kebe A/S, which operates on the international market as a producer of modern upholstered furniture.

The chair is in original vintage condition. It has minor signs of age. The seat height is 42 cm.

The colours of the products shown in the photographs may differ slightly from the actual colours. This is due to individual monitor settings and the type of lighting—the photographs were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of the shades. We nevertheless endeavour to ensure that the photographs reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The listing may include photographs of the item in an interior setting. These are for illustrative purposes only.
