Description

Condor glass table, designed by Fredrik Schriever-Abeln for Örebro Glass, Sweden, 1960s

The Condor glass coffee table was designed by Fredrik Schriever-Abeln for the Swedish manufacturer Örebro Glass in the 1960s. The base, with its X-shaped legs, is made of solid walnut. The table features a rectangular, tinted crystal-glass top, known as smoked glass. The glass is 1.3 cm thick, making it very heavy.

This is one of those designs where it is difficult to tell whether it is still a piece of furniture or already a sculpture. Its architectural, almost abstract form is an example of the extravagance of Scandinavian design from the Mid-Century Modern era. The table not only fulfils its primary function but also serves as an intriguing interior element that cannot be ignored.

The piece has been preserved in its original vintage condition. The top is original and has minor scratches on the glass.
