The painting is dominated by intense, saturated colours—primarily blues, greens, and yellows, with contrasting accents of red and orange. It is executed with a thick layer of paint using the impasto technique, creating a pronounced texture. The style recalls Expressionism—it is not concerned with realism, but with an emotional, spiritual experience. The painting evokes a sense of spiritual exaltation and mystery. The interplay of intense colours and symbolic shapes suggests not only a pilgrimage site, but also an inner religious experience, prayer, and perhaps even a miraculous healing.

Frideborg Bryth lived from 1910 to 2007. She was born in Huskvarna. She was the wife of the artist Lennart Lilja. Together they ran studios and focused mainly on oil and acrylic painting. In 1978, they jointly published the book Yttringar, featuring Lennart’s poems and Frideborg’s illustrations. Both belonged to the Dalsland Artists’ Association.

The work is in its original vintage condition. The frame shows signs of use and age.
