Hardy Bertil Roland Stridh lived from 1921 to 2012. He was born in Haverdal. He was a Swedish painter, illustrator, graphic artist, and glass artist. Stridh initially trained as a professional painter and studied easel painting. At the end of the 1930s, he experimented with paintings in the style of the Halmstad Group. He received instruction in drawing from Waldemar Lorentzon, Uno Liljegren, and Bengt Berglund. This was followed by study trips to France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Morocco, as well as England, where he created stained-glass windows for Tom Faers. His works were shown at the Color Lithography Biennale in Cincinnati in 1954, Twenty West Swedish Painters in Lübeck in 1955, Ten Swedish Painters in Edinburgh, as well as at a series of Swedish group exhibitions in various locations and exhibitions organised by Hallands Konstförening and Halmstads Konstnärerlubb. For Folkets hus in Halmstad, he executed the monumental commission Gjuteriet, which was a moderately Cubist tempera painting with great depth. In Kortedala, in 1957, he created a large decorative exterior mural, and for the Martin Luther Church in Halmstad he painted a series of window paintings. He painted three stained-glass windows for Skee Church, where he created a cross-shaped latticework. His art consists of still lifes, Cubist motifs, landscapes, and figures executed in oil, watercolour, gouache, tempera, and several different graphic techniques, as well as enamel painting, and sculptures in glass or marble. He was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Drawing Museum in Laholm. His works can be viewed at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Gothenburg Museum, the Kalmar Museum, the Norrköping Museum, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and Silkeborgs Museum.
