Description

Monza leather armchair, designed by Jens Juul Eilersen, Niels Eilersen A/S, Denmark, 1970s

The generously proportioned Monza leather armchair was designed by Jens Juul Eilersen for the Danish manufacturer Niels Eilersen A/S in the 1970s. The entire piece is upholstered in genuine leather in shades of grey. Large cushions create a soft frame around the edges, making this model intriguing and visually striking. The cushions, secured with zippers, can easily be removed. With its generous size and exceptional comfort, the armchair invites you to sit back and relax. The piece provides the highest level of relaxation. The quality of both the materials used and the workmanship is first-rate.

Founded in 1895 by Niels Eilersen, the company initially produced horse-drawn carriages. Eilersen was the first company in Denmark to use steam for shaping wood. Since the 1930s, N. Eilersen A/S has produced furniture with an emphasis on the highest quality of materials, comfort and durability. This strategy made Eilersen A/S a well-known and recognisable brand both domestically and internationally, and several sofa models carry the designation state-of-the-art. N. Eilersen A/S is a family business, now run by the fourth generation. Innovation and tradition remain its hallmarks.

From the mid-1960s, Jens Juul Eilersen was responsible for developing designs at N. Eilersen A/S. All his designs are created according to the Golden Ratio, in which classical geometric principles guarantee balance and harmony in terms of both functionality and expression. Jens Juul Eilersen designed the Monza series, which is rightly considered a classic. Jens was passionate about precise calculations, clearly reflected in his designs, which are created through carefully considered proportions and masterful craftsmanship, using only the finest materials.

The armchair remains in its original vintage condition. The leather shows signs of age in the form of changes in pigmentation and scuffing. The seat height is 41 cm.
