Description

Elegant, decorative wall mirror in the Napoleon III style, made in France in the second half of the 19th century, most likely around 1870–1890.

The frame is made of wood and richly decorated with repoussé brass. The entire piece is covered with exceptionally striking ornamental decoration featuring rocaille motifs, acanthus leaves, flowers, palmettes and floral motifs. The intricate central cartouche at the top gives the piece a majestic character.
The mirror has a bevelled glass surface that harmonises beautifully with the richly decorated frame. The original wooden construction, including the mounting elements, has been preserved at the back.
A highly decorative piece, suitable for both classic and eclectic interiors. It is particularly effective as a standalone accent piece above a console table, chest of drawers or in a grand entrance hall.
