Description

A pair of Carlotta tables, designed by Antonio Citterio for the Italian manufacturer Flexform in 1997. The lightweight structure is made of flat, chrome-plated metal. The tabletop is made of wood finished with white, matte, scratch-resistant lacquer. The tables belong to the versatile Carlotta product family, which includes a small armchair, pouf, chair, tables and shelving unit. The collection draws on a design language close to Rationalism, with a touch of Bauhaus influence.

Antonio Citterio was born in 1950 in Meda. He is an Italian architect and furniture designer. In 1972, he earned a degree in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, then began working as a designer and industrial design consultant. From 1987 to 1996, he worked with Terry Dwan, designing buildings in Europe and Japan. In 2000, together with Patricia Viel, he founded Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel – an interdisciplinary architecture and interior design practice. The firm operates internationally, developing complex projects at all scales in collaboration with a network of specialised consultants. Antonio Citterio received the Compasso d’Oro award in 1987 and 1994. From 2006 to 2016, he was a professor of design at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland. In 2008, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London awarded him the title of Honorary Royal Designer.

Flexform is an Italian company headquartered in Meda, Italy, in the heart of the La Brianza furniture production district. Founded in 1959 by the Galimberti brothers, the company designs, manufactures and sells furniture and interior accessories for residential and public spaces. All production still takes place exclusively in Italy in order to preserve the product’s original Made in Italy identity.

The tables have been preserved in their original vintage condition, with minor signs of use, slight discolouration and scratches. One of the tables has a round, magnetic tray on the tabletop.
