Miniature collectible stoneware vase designed by Gunnar Borg for the Swedish manufactory Höganäs Keramik in the 1960s. Handmade by a master craftsman, with the utmost care and attention to detail. The vase is finished in caramel with an irregular hue. Signed with the artist’s signature and the manufacturer’s mark.

Gunnar Borg lived from 1926 to 2007. To this day, he remains one of the leading representatives of 20th-century Scandinavian ceramic design. He is known for miniature, handmade ceramic and stoneware objects, mainly vases. He also created lamp bases, cups, decorative bowls and ashtrays. He began his career at the age of 14 at Andersson & Johansson in Höganäs. From 1940, he worked there for the next 28 years. The artist’s creativity and craftsmanship are evident in every object. In 1968, Borg established his own workshop, where he worked until his death.

Höganäs Keramik, formerly AJ Andersson & Johansson Keramik, was founded in 1909 by Johannes Olofsson and Sigfrid Johansson. Modern household articles secured an undisputed place in the history of Swedish design. Well-known ceramicists at AJ / Höganäs included John Andersson, Anne Nilsson, Rolf Palm, Lisa Larrson and Gunnar Borg. Today, it is a design company and part of the Iittala Group, a Finnish art glass manufacturer.

The vase is in original vintage condition. A delicately repaired crack is present at the base of the vase.
