Side table with a decorative top, Great Britain, 1920s
Description
Side table with a decorative top, Great Britain, 1920s
An elegant, decorative oak coffee table from Great Britain, dating from the 1920s.
The table is distinguished by an exceptionally characteristic trefoil, clover-shaped top, its surface decorated with three hand-carved floral motifs.
The edge of the top is additionally decorated, giving the piece a distinctive, sculptural character.
Particularly noteworthy are the three richly turned bobbin legs, decorated with numerous spherical and ring-shaped elements.
The legs are joined by a decoratively turned triple stretcher with a central finial.
The piece has retained its original dark brown finish and natural patina, with visible signs of use, scuffs, and minor imperfections characteristic of its age.
The underside reveals structural elements and traces of historic repairs; these have been left untouched to preserve the authentic character of the piece.
This is an exceptionally decorative and unusual example of English rustic furniture, which can be used as a side table, armchair table, bedside table, or eye-catching plant stand.
