Teak table lamp, Denmark, 1960s
A 1960s table lamp made of teak, featuring a distinctive sculptural construction. Its form is based on two horizontal elements connected by a wooden arm, creating a light, almost geometric structure. The design is completed by a round base and a simple fabric shade in a natural tone. The combination of warm wood and the soft texture of the fabric captures the character of Scandinavian modernism of the period.
The most interesting feature of the lamp is its construction, which serves both a decorative and a practical function. Two movable horizontal arms allow the position of the shade to be adjusted, adapting the height and reach of the light to current needs. The mechanism enables the lamp to be positioned in various configurations, from a compact form to a more extended arrangement, as shown in the photograph. The rounded edges of the wooden elements and the visible metal connectors give it a more crafted character than typical mass-produced lamps from the period. The natural tone of the teak wood works well with the light beige shade, allowing the lamp to cast a warm, diffused light and making it equally suitable for a mid-century modern setting or a more contemporary interior.
The lamp’s width ranges from 49 to 72 cm
