Vintage glass lamp, designed by Stepan Tabera, OPP Jihlava, Czechoslovakia, 1970s
Description
Vintage glass lamp, designed by Stepan Tabera, OPP Jihlava, 1970s
Table lamp designed in the 1970s by Štěpán Tabera for the Czechoslovak manufacturer OPP Jihlava. It is an excellent example of Space Age design.
The lamp is characterised by a fluid, organic mushroom-shaped form, made entirely of layered glass in an intense, glossy red colour.
The construction is set on a delicate, round ring of polished brass. A black power cord extends from the lamp, fitted with a classic white inline switch and plug.
The original paper factory labels of the manufacturer bearing the designation “OPP Jihlava” and the technical specification (250 V, Type: M2/5, 40 W) have been preserved on the brass underside of the base.
The item is in very good vintage condition. It is an excellent, highly decorative lighting element for interiors.
