Stoneware fish sculpture designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for the Swedish porcelain manufacturer Rörstrand in the 1960s. Crafted from high-quality stoneware in shades of brown and cobalt. Hand-painted and glazed. The figurine is inspired by nature, characterised by a subtle form and Scandinavian minimalism. It combines an elegant form with a harmonious colour palette.

Carl-Harry Stålhane (1920-1990) was a Swedish ceramicist and designer, regarded as one of the key figures in 20th-century Swedish design. He was best known for his work at the renowned Rörstrand manufactory, where he created functional and art ceramics from the 1940s onwards. His tableware, vases and ceramic sculptures earned recognition both in Sweden and internationally. To this day, his designs can be found in design museums around the world, including Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and MoMA in New York.

Rörstrand, founded in Stockholm in 1726, is one of the oldest and most prestigious porcelain manufacturers in Europe. It is known for elegant design, often combining tradition with modernity. Its products are characterised by simplicity of form, subtle decoration and functionality. Rörstrand is an icon of Swedish design and part of Scandinavia’s cultural heritage. Over the centuries, the factory collaborated with many distinguished artists and designers, including Carl-Harry Stålhane, Gunnar Nylund and Marianne Westman.

The figurine remains in its original vintage condition.
