A rare model of the 1892/4 floor lamp, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for the Swedish manufacturer Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB (Markaryd) in the 1970s. The lamp is a kind of sculpture with a bold, architectural form. It consists of a central column from which four arms extend, made of brushed solid brass. Each arm ends in a removable sphere made of lightly smoked glass, which gives the lamp its distinctive character. The top of the golden column is also crowned with a glass shade, giving the lamp a total of five light sources. The entire piece is made of brushed, gilt metal and solid brass with its original patina. The interplay of these materials with the honey-coloured glass gives the lamp remarkable texture and depth. It is an ideal addition to interiors decorated in the Hollywood Regency style, for admirers of Mid-Century Modern design, or for those seeking distinctive forms.

This rarely available model was manufactured by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, Markaryd, Sweden. The design gained popularity in the 1980s, appearing in a Philips catalogue from 1983–1984. The catalogue featured the wall-mounted version of the lamp (1892/3). The designer also used this form for a ceiling lamp and a table lamp, all from the same collection.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson lived from 1919 to 2009. He was a Swedish architect and furniture designer. After completing his studies in architecture, he began working as an industrial designer at General Motors. In 1951, he founded his own lighting company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden. Jakobsson’s designs became renowned not only in Sweden. He collaborated with many companies across Europe and opened his own showroom in Canada. He used materials such as brass, glass and wood to create timeless works that reflected the principles of Scandinavian design. Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s legacy continues to influence contemporary lighting design, and his works remain iconic examples of Scandinavian craftsmanship and innovation.

The lamp is preserved in its original vintage condition with visible patina. It requires E14 bulbs. The floor switch is located on the cord.
