Crystal vase Tulip designed by Jan Johansson for the Swedish glassworks Orrefors in the 1970s. Transparent vase made of lead crystal art glass. It is shaped like a tulip with six petals. Jan Johansson was born in 1942. He came to Orrefors in 1969 after completing goldsmith training at the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. As an artist, he was interested in refining the optical effects of pure, sculptural crystal, as seen in the Street series of cut-glass barware accessories. Jan Johansson actively sought new means of expression and expanded the scope of the Fuga technique.

The Swedish glassworks Orrefors takes its name from the wooded village in Småland where it was founded. In the 20th century, the name Orrefors became synonymous with outstanding Swedish glass. Orrefors’s reputation spread worldwide in the mid-1920s, first through its presentation at an exhibition in Gothenburg in 1923, and then through its participation in the landmark Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1925, where Orrefors and the artists themselves received the Grand Prix. The company grew and expanded its product lines. Today, the company operates as Orrefors Kosta Boda AB and is the largest group of glassworks in Scandinavia.

The vase is in its original vintage condition. Unfortunately, the original Orrefors sticker has not survived.
