Bronze vase, designed by Dorothea Dietz, Germany, 1960s
Description
The item presented here is a unique, hand-crafted vase made of solid bronze in the 1960s. The author of this artistic design was Dorothea Dietz, whose artistic craft workshop was located on Wahmstraße in Lübeck, as confirmed by the original paper mark preserved on the underside.
The vessel is distinguished by its organic, flattened and slightly asymmetrical form, with irregular, sculpturally formed edges. The front wall of the vase is decorated with a subtle, raised relief depicting a plant motif in the form of wildflowers and grasses. The raw, metallic surface of the bronze shimmers in warm shades of gold, while natural, greenish patina is visible in the recesses and inside the vessel. This unique object combines a functional purpose with a sculptural quality, serving as a distinctive decorative element in the spirit of mid-century modern.
