Glass sculpture by Rollin Karg, United States, 1990s
A large artistic glass sculpture handmade by American glass artist Rollin Karg in 1997. The work belongs to the studio glass movement and combines the function of a decorative sculpture with that of a collectible paperweight.
The form is made of solid, optically clear glass, with its interior decorated with a composition of colourful spirals in shades of navy blue, turquoise, orange and gold flecks. The dynamic, spiral arrangement of colours creates an effect of depth and movement characteristic of contemporary glass art.
The base of the work is polished and signed by the artist: “Karg 1997”.
The sculpture is ideal as a decorative element for interiors or as a collectible representing American art glass from the late 20th century.
