Pair of brutalist door handles, designed by Juliette Belarti, Belgium, 1960s

Pair of original entrance door handles designed and made by Belgian artist Juliette Belarti in the 1960s. The geometric frame is made of aluminium, while the centre is filled with an orange-and-black glazed ceramic tile. The combination of these two materials gives the piece a harmonious character. This original, almost sculptural design with an interesting texture will work well in simple, minimalist interiors as a bold accent, while also complementing modern spaces with an unusual and unique element.

Juliette Belarti was a Belgian artist. Her designs are characterised by combinations of ceramics and metal crafted with exceptional care. Hand-painted ceramic tiles form the basis of many tables made by the artist. Most of her designs were created in the 1960s and 1970s.

The handles have been preserved in their original vintage condition. They have minor age-related marks and a natural patina.
