Peter Foeller was born in 1945 and grew up in Königsbach. He studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Pforzheim and the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. Since then, his works have been exhibited all over the world. As a result, he is considered one of the most successful German artists in his home country. It is not easy to describe Foeller’s artistic language. Art experts also disagree on how exactly to classify his work. The artist resists all hasty attempts at cataloguing and opposes being put into categories. A key feature of his oeuvre is a recurring leitmotif, which art experts describe as the synthetic principles underlying the creation of aesthetic order and disorder. Foeller’s life’s motto is to form radically opposing pairs of opposites, for which there are many symbolic names: the clearly forming constructive mind versus the force of primal nature, intellect versus emotion, reason versus mysticism, logic – illogicality, consciousness – unconsciousness. He treats paintings as opposites: geometric and amorphous forms, sharp edges and murky nebulae, steadfastness and fluid splashes, rigidity and extraordinary vitality.
The sheet is slightly soiled. We also have other works by this artist, Mondschiff and Feuerschiff , available in our other listings.
