Set of 4 miniature vases designed by Gunnar Borg for the Swedish Höganäs Keramik manufactory in the 1960s. Handcrafted by a master craftsman with the utmost care and attention to detail. The vases are glazed in a honey-brown colour with an irregular tone. Signed with the designer’s signature and the manufacturer’s mark. One of them bears the individual number 228.

Gunnar Borg lived from 1926 to 2007. To this day, he remains one of the leading representatives of 20th-century Scandinavian ceramic design. He is known for miniature, handmade ceramic and stoneware objects, mainly vases. He also created lamp bases, mugs, decorative bowls and ashtrays. He began his career at the age of 14 at Andersson & Johansson in Höganäs. From 1940, he worked there for the next 28 years. The artist’s creativity and craftsmanship are evident in every object. In 1968, Borg founded his own workshop, where he worked until his death.

Höganäs Keramik, formerly AJ Andersson & Johansson Keramik, was founded in 1909 by Johannes Olofsson and Sigfrid Johansson. Modern household articles occupy an indisputable place in the history of Swedish design. Notable ceramists at AJ / Höganäs included John Andersson, Anne Nilsson, Rolf Palm, Lisa Larrson and Gunnar Borg. Today, it is a design company and part of the Iittala Group, a Finnish art glass manufacturer.

The vases are in original vintage condition.
