Veneered PRL Sideboard, Poland, 1970s

Description

This sideboard was manufactured in Poland in the 1970s.
The body, drawer and doors are finished in walnut veneer with striking, expressive and symmetrical grain.
The glossy black handles and legs provide a bold contrast, giving the piece a strong graphic character and adding a distinctly modernist accent.
Behind the sliding glass doors is a long removable shelf; the piece also features a removable shelf behind the veneered doors.

This is an excellent example of Polish functional design from the PRL era, a piece that is both practical and exceptionally attractive visually.
The sideboard has undergone a complete restoration.
