Selected by: Aleksandra Hyz
Aleksandra Hyz, interior architect and applied arts designer, has chosen vintage pieces from the MIDMOD collection. See her selection in the Selected by series.
Aleksandra Hyz is an interior architect who combines artistic sensitivity with structural precision. In her projects, light, form and material create a coherent narrative about harmony and emotion. For MIDMOD, she has prepared a selection of objects that—as she says herself—“possess a sense of calm, balance and noble simplicity”.

From the age of ten, she knew that she wanted to design spaces—to create places that evoke emotions, tell stories and provide a backdrop for everyday life.
Her professional journey began at an art high school in Zamość, followed by studies at the University of the Arts in Poznań and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she studied architecture, interior design and exhibition design.

Today, she runs her own studio, Hyz Projektuje, specialising primarily in private interior design, although her portfolio also includes commercial projects—restaurants, showrooms and trade-fair stands. She values the variety of projects, which allows her to develop both her aesthetic sensitivity and her technical skills.
Aleksandra’s projects have been published in numerous industry magazines and international online portals. Among the accolades she has had the pleasure of contributing to or receiving are, among others:

-
Floo planter system for Balma (with Aleksandra Mętlewicz)—winner of Must Have 2020 and a finalist for Dobry Wzór 2019,
-
Ledea brand trade-fair stand—second prize at the Światło Fair 2020,
-
Monolith table—a distinction in Dobry Wzór 2021,
-
A Bene Chicchetti restaurant—awarded at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2023 and Iconic Awards 2024 (in collaboration with Noke Architects),
-
Sunny Apartment—the People’s Choice Award in Architektura Wnętrza XXL 2022,
-
Objekt Gallery project—on the podium at the Pulse Award 2025 in the public interiors category.
In 2025, together with Dawid Adamczyk, she founded the HYZ brand, initially focused on tableware, providing a space for experimentation with form, material and function—and open to future development.

In her private life, she collects vintage glass and loves searching for exceptional objects at antique markets—especially those hidden at the bottom of forgotten boxes.
Her designs combine vintage aesthetics, clean forms and a balanced colour palette. In her work, she is guided by the belief that design should be not only functional and beautiful, but also emotional—meaningful to the people who will live in it.

In Aleksandra’s projects, one can find a common thread—a calmness of form, attention to detail and the ability to create spaces where design does not dominate, but works in harmony with people.
Here are Aleksandra Hyz’s selections—objects that combine the inherent quality of their materials, authenticity and enduring beauty. Each possesses something that makes it resist trends, gaining character over time.
