A pair of very rare armchairs. Model EJ 8 was designed by Torben Skov for the Danish manufacturer Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik in the 1990s. The geometric frame is made of chromed metal. The rectangular seat and backrest cushions are upholstered in natural leather dyed red. The same material is used on the armrests. Form follows function – one of the key principles of Bauhaus design, which is clearly visible here. The armchairs would suit both studio and private interiors. They are an ideal choice as a bold accent in minimalist spaces.

Torben Skov is a Danish graphic designer best known for designing postage stamps. Since 1990, he has designed stamps for Post Danmark. The desire to create something entirely different from graphic design led Torben Skov to become interested in furniture design in the 1980s. In total, Torben Skov created 35 designs, and his work is rarely seen on the market. In addition to several awards, including those for his stamp designs and first prize in a furniture competition in Japan, Torben Skov also had a solo exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 2007.

Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik is a manufacturer founded in 1954 by saddler and designer Erik Jørgensen. In the 1970s, the company was considered a leader in Danish furniture design. Jørgensen earned a reputation for his exceptional upholstery skills, inventive upholstered furniture and unparalleled expertise in sofa upholstery. The Erik Jørgensen brand reflects a passion for materiality and craftsmanship, evident in its classic and contemporary designs with sculptural elegance.

The armchairs have been preserved in their original vintage condition. They show signs of age, scratches on the leather and marks on the chrome parts. The seat height is 45 cm.
