Brass wall plaque “Piura”, designed by Barbro Bäckström, Sweden, 1978

An artistic wall plaque from 1978, crafted using a relief technique in sheet brass. The work is attributed to the renowned Swedish sculptor Barbro Bäckström, who was known for her depictions of the human body and experiments with the malleability of metal.

The piece is characterised by the intense golden sheen of polished brass, which interacts beautifully with the light, accentuating the raised anatomical forms. Natural discolouration, patina and signs of age are visible on the surface, giving the object an authentic vintage character. Both sides of the relief showcase the convex and concave aspects of the form.
