Pair of brutalist chairs by Ansager Møbler, Denmark, 1970s/80s

Solid wood chairs in a brutalist style with a rustic touch, made by the now-defunct Danish manufacturer Ansager Møbler. The chairs probably date from the 1970s or 1980s. Premium furniture combining high quality with exceptional design. Wonderful chairs with a distinctive form and characteristic symmetrically divided backrests. One chair has armrests. The wide, contoured seats ensure comfortable use.

The frames of both chairs are made entirely of solid pine. The choice of material is not accidental—the warm, honey-toned pine beautifully showcases the rich grain and natural knots, which are key decorative features. The construction is based on thick, solid turned legs that guarantee absolute stability. The front legs are set wide apart, enhancing the impression of the chairs’ width, while the rear legs are positioned close together and support the tall backrests. Both the frames and the slightly contoured seats demonstrate excellent craftsmanship. The tall, ergonomically shaped backrests draw attention, formed from boards with characteristic cut-outs and decorative pegs at the top. All edges have been carefully rounded, softening the brutalist form and making the furniture pleasant to the touch.

These chairs are virtually indestructible—an investment that will last for generations. Their distinctive form will wonderfully break up the monotony of modern, minimalist interiors, introducing an organic element.

Chairs rarely found on the market. Beautiful in both form and material.

They are not new and show signs of use. These are vintage pieces of furniture with a history, traces of which have been preserved in the form of scratches, scuffs and knocks that do not affect their usability. The most visible signs are on the chair legs, as these were most exposed to wear. The chairs’ construction is strong and stable. The chairs are in very good condition and ready for use. They present beautifully. They are exceptionally comfortable and practical!
