Metal coat rack designed by Markus Börgens in the 1980s. A sophisticated example of postmodern minimalist design with an industrial edge. Made entirely of black, matte metal, it creates a visual and functional counterpoint characteristic of its era. The coat rack is built around a tall, straight column with a slender profile, stabilised by a heavy circular base. In the centre, just above the point where three individual hooks are positioned, the column divides into three separate rods. Their most distinctive feature is the striking finish in the form of shiny, wavy, zigzag brackets extending from the main shaft, designed for hanging clothes. These minimalist yet dynamic lines break up the simplicity of the column, giving the coat rack a unique, light and slightly playful accent typical of the design of the period.

Thanks to its minimalist yet distinctive aesthetic, Markus Börgens’ coat rack sits comfortably in a variety of interiors. The coat rack is not new; it is a 20th-century vintage item. It has been preserved in its natural, very good condition. It has minor scratches, scuffs and knocks from use that do not affect its functionality but give it individual character. There are slight traces of rust on the base.
