Description

An elegant decorative figurine depicting Guanyin (Kuan Yin / Quan Yin) – the bodhisattva of compassion and mercy, one of the most important figures in Mahayana Buddhism.

The figurine is made of white porcelain covered with a glossy glaze, in a style inspired by the Chinese blanc de Chine tradition.
Guanyin is depicted standing on an intricate lotus-shaped base, holding another lotus flower in one hand.
The piece is characterised by an exceptionally decorative, precisely modelled relief, with clearly visible lotus petals, robes, ornaments and delicate jewellery details.

Particularly striking are the calm, subtly modelled face and the richly rendered hairstyle with its distinctive headdress.

Date: 1960s–70s, 20th century, China.
Material: porcelain, glaze.

Condition: good, considering its age. One finger on the outstretched hand is damaged. Minor signs of wear and dirt are also visible in hard-to-reach areas of the base. The remaining parts of the figurine are well preserved, with no visible major cracks or chips. The condition is shown in detail in the photographs.

A large, striking figurine with a distinctly Oriental character, suitable both for an Asian art collection and as an eye-catching decorative element in a contemporary interior.
