Measuring cup with brass inlays, India, 1930s
Description
Traditional Indian wooden measuring cup, known as a “mana”, historically used to measure rice, grains and other dry goods. Handmade from a sturdy body, it is decorated with numerous brass inlays, a decorative central medallion and distinctive woven ornaments at the top and bottom.
The vessel has its original flat lid and string handle. The interior and exterior show clear signs of use and wear, along with a natural patina that emphasises the object’s authentic character.
